Prologue 

Freya woke to pain. Her muscles burned and stung throughout her body in a way she had never experienced before. A sharp stabbing sensation shot through her skull and she let out a groan. Snow crunched under her weight as she rolled over and sat up, her chest heaving with painful breaths. 

She was in a clearing surrounded by pinewoods, massive trunks that stretched into the heavens forever. Masser and Secunda loomed above in a clear sky, their light glinting off the snow covered forest. A bitter cold wind blew, swirling up snow that sent tingles against her exposed skin. The forest was alive with sounds. The crack of ice and frozen wood. Small animals scurrying beneath the snow. The powerful flap of an owl's wings. Freya heard it all, yet saw nothing.

She did not know where she was or how she came to be in this place, naked and alone. More pain spiked through her skull. She was burning up with what felt like fever, sweat dripping down her face despite the cold night. She felt a droplet fall from her nose and she watched as she dripped red onto the white snow.

Blood. 

Her sweat had mixed with it and she could smell its iron tang. The snow around her where she had laid was crusted with blood, as was most of her body. Freya stood and turned to follow the trail of maroon spots. A few paces away there was a large dark stain soaked into the snow. She approached cautiously, her bare feet barely registered the cold ground beneath them. Every step brought fresh pain and the trees swirled in her vision as she fought to keep her balance. Strange shapes protruded from the snow and she knew what she would find when she got closer. A corpse, if one could call it that. Man or woman, she could not tell. They had been torn apart as if by a wild beast. Limbs and entrails now frozen, were strewn across the forest floor. What was left of the torso bore a great gaping wound ripped by tooth and claw.

She pushed down the nagging, unsettling feeling that began to build in her stomach; and did her best to ignore the growing horrifying hunger that accompanied it. She sank to her knees, palms digging deep into the bloody slush of snow.

The world around her spun and she let oblivion take her.

one missed opportunity is not releasing Oblivion Remastered on the 27th of Last Seed (so 27th of August) but oh well
