What an odd way to put it — passably. Just good enough, eh? He wonders what she means by that. Well — wondered — past tense — as his gaze is soon to scan across their current surroundings, only to become fixated on aforementioned board. Eyebrows raising in surprise ( and perhaps a fraction of curiosity ) a nervous chuckle is soon to emit as he looks to the female once more.
Passably, indeed.
"You don't say?"
@tessofbaterilla
"You punk," he shoved the assailant against the wall. "You thought it would be that easy, huh? Stay still, you are coming with me," he locked the handcuffs around the guy's wrists.
He was on a nearby island of Karai Bari, where they had already confirmed the Guild got supplies from. It of course meant that the whole island was likely crawling with Cross Guild affiliates, and the civilian populace wasn't to be trusted either since the knowledge of the marine bounties was likely to be high. That was why he had spent most of the time on the island in his smoke form, just listening and observing. The now nearly unconscious fool had found him on a back alley in the more sparsely inhabited side of town, which he had judged to be safe enough to solidify back into his human form to make a call to the command ship. How exactly the fool had managed to track him down, he was unsure of, but he had clearly been the man's target so interrogating him could prove useful.
He looked to the houses in the alleyway, not feeling any presences in a handful of them. He intended to take his prisoner into one of them to have a quiet place to interrogate him, when he felt a tremor of danger through his Haki.
It was someone powerful, at the other end of the alleyway, he bared his teeth, "This doesn't concern you, move on."
@tessofbaterilla The woman is tall for a human--not the towering fortress of a woman Charlotte Linlin was, but close to seven-and-a-half feet. Her eyes are direct and unapologetic on Jinbe's bearded face. "You're the Son of the sea." Yes, yes, he is, and that's a rather blunt greeting. "You were at Marineford." A flicker of pain, there and gone in a flash, passes over her own face, twisting one corner of her mouth. Without hesitation, she takes a step toward him, head tipped back so she can hold that eye contact. "I want to ask you something."
🫧 — Jinbe carefully lowers the crate he was carrying on the wet, sandy ground. It contains mainly provisions he brought along. Lending a helping hand is never easy when distrust, unrest and hostility are this palpable in the air.
He studies the woman with a neutrality that isn't disinterest but cautious goodwill, before giving her an acknowledging nod. "You are correct," Jinbe replies evenly after a moment, straightening to his full height. "I was."
Jinbe's gaze remains on her, calm and steady.
"You wished to ask me something."
Ctimene, how do you balance ruling a kingdom and your marriage? Are there areas you feel you succeed in the work- life balance? What areas do you need to work on?
Ask my muse questions about their relationship with another character. // Accepting! Mentioned: @hxbiris (Youto)
"Isn't that obvious?"
"Communication is key, darling, and while Youto also balances his work with the revolutionary army I am here to keep Berilus afloat- after all, I am the one who held the marines, government, and pirates at bay during his absence around the time of the Dressrosa incident." She hummed to herself, "We have a rather amicable work-life balance, I would say- mostly the two of us sparring or me forcing him to spend time with me, the gods know I miss his presence fondly when he is away...~"
"I treat my work and marriage as equals- Youto knows I am capable of running our home, brains to go with his brawn after all- I handle the politics of our nation over sitting back while he gets all the fun ruining the world government's life....~" Ctimene sighed, "...though I just wish he would stay put for a while, that is my only gripe- I understand the revolutionary army is as important as our nation but I miss him and at times grow irritated while he is away on that business, I end up blaming them for his absence more often than not and that truly doesn't help anyone, including myself...But I think he knows I get irate when it takes priority..."
"...but, I will admit- him coming back after the incident with Dressrosa to murder all the ingrates who so brazenly tried to back me into a corner and forcibly annex our kingdom into the world government. HA!! Those idiots had no clue who they were dealing with." she still recalled Adelardo struggling with her husband's palintonos bow. What a fool, killed by the very man he thought was dead.
"I wouldn't have our marriage any other way though, the only man to ever build our kingdom around the place we met and create a bed from the same tree, to knowing exactly what it would mean to uproot it and move it from our chambers. He is MY husband and I wouldn't have him or our relationship any other way." She would fall for him as many times as it took in whatever timelines existed, no one would replace him. Not to her.
He was perfect.
A brick crashes through his window! Wrapped around it is a thick sheet of parchment. Unrolled, it reads:
GET YOUR OWN MAN
("Man" has been hastily edited to read "MAIN BOSS")
GET YOUR OWN MAIN BOSS
& @sircrocodillian
"Boss, this came through your window last night," he looks up from his paper and his fresh smoothie when Iggy places a brick on his table.
Just seeing it with the parchment wrapped around it made him burst out in laughter, almost tipping back off his chair from the strength of it, ""Huehuehuehue! Oh man! I haven't gotten one of these in a while! I wonder who it's from," giggling now, giddy as a schoolgirl receiving a love letter from a crush, he unwrapped the note.
"Awh," he said as he read the parchment, "Now I wonder who this could be from, huehuehue," he folded the paper back up, and went back to his smoothie, "Don't worry Tessie, I don't want your boss. I want your man."

For a few seconds, the mink remained perfectly still ( for the most part, anyway ). Snowy ears began to flick, a shake of head accompanied by a bashful huff. It wasn't every day someone called medical assistance, however small, cute. The chance of the adjective being aimed towards Linn herself, rather than the pill, flew right over her head. ❝ I . . . did not make it myself, no. They are from an apothecary. And I hope licensed. ❞
Linn wasn't able to share the woman's recognition ; whether the other one was a fellow pirate, a marine, or some secret third option. The doctor's bounty poster game was admittedly rather strong, but in which world did anyone know every poster ?
❝ Maybe you've seen my bounty. I am the doctor of the future king of pirates. ❞ Only a dog would wag their tail like the feline just did, fur on her chest puffed up with sheer pride. Albeit Kid didn't wear the aspiring title quite as much as fellow contending captains, Linn allowed herself the naivety to expect other's to know what she was talking about. How very . . . loyal !
❝ Ah- perhaps I should have asked for your name first, before I offered suspicious pills to a stranger, shouldn't I ? ❞
"I'd recommend 24 hours isolation from light." [Tess, no expression, flatly. Hungover Shanks?]
&& TIME WILL TELL — accepting !
"Do you now? And is that Doctors orders?" Maybe the "D" in her name stood for Doctor! Wouldn't that be something? Although, he'd have to say that her area of expertise certainly wouldn't lean towards psychology — surely she'd have picked up better residence than here, if that were the case.
Ah, but that was a little mean, now wasn't it? Thank goodness for the privacy of the mind !
"Does that mean you want me to stay?" And with that, he drapes an arm around her — pulls her in close and presses his nose against her cheek. He's pleasantly buzzed in the aftermath of his consumption, not too far gone but just enough to feel ... giddy.
