Winter Testing, Barcelona

Jacob liked rain. It suited his driving style, having the track a little wet, and he liked to listen to heavy rain on the tarmac. He loosened up when the skies opened, relaxed both in and out the car. So when he arrived down at the McLaren garage on the third day of winter testing, a small smile crossed his lips at the sight of the radar. He was sure not many of his engineers would like it though, as this might not give them the best data. 

He always arrived suited up, so after a quick chat with the engineers he busied himself with other preparations- carefully fixing the small earbuds into his ears while staring out into the pitlane. A bright red Ferrari snarled past the garage, tyres slipping slightly on the shiny black tarmac. 

He slid neatly into his McLaren after a nod from his race engineer. After two days of system checks, which mostly went to plan other than a small oil leak, today he would be able to put his foot down and do his first low-fuel runs. Jacob smiled again as he brought his helmet down over his head. He was excited. The adrenalin was already coursing through his veins. 

After revving the engine to maximum for thirty seconds, he was good to go. The instillation lap went without a hitch and, after spending another five minutes checking the tyre pressure, he headed out onto track for ten timed laps.
