“I knew you'd come.” She smiled despite the circumstances. She had awoken in this hospital bed with absolutely no idea how she had gotten here. Her mother – her adoptive mother – had been sitting by her side concern written all over her face. A coma. Alice had been in a coma for over a week after being involved in a hit and run and when she'd started asking for her girlfriend, her mother and the doctors realized that she'd lost about five years of her memory. Alice hadn't understood. All she wanted was her girlfriend there to make things better. To make things make sense again.

The tattoo shop was closed on Sundays, which meant that Saturday nights were reserved for Rian to peruse the bar next door. He wasn’t as heavy of a drinker as he used to be, but a beer here and there didn’t do any harm. If he was lucky, he’d meet someone handsome and take them home for the night.
