Okay, so- thought thingy. We can play sound forwards and backwards, compressed and... not compressed, I guess. But could we play sound... sideways?
I'm not sure how it would work, but if you think of how sound moves in wave- no, wait. Think of a heart monitor, how the line tracks the heartbeat with alterations in the line- spiking up or down. Now imagine a recording of a sound byte that looks more or less like this- variations in the tone indicated with spikes going up and down. Take one of these spikes, cut it in half (from descend to ascend), turn it on it's side, invert it (to complete the 'spike' triangle), and then rinse and repeat for the others. I could just be full of shit, but hey, it's a thought.
