Tetris (15): In Pursuit of the Soviet Blocks (sic)!
#onemannsmovies #filmreview of "Tetris" on #AppleTV. #TetrisMovie. A solidly entertaining cold war thriller based on a true story. 4/5.
A One Mann’s Movies review of “Tetris” (2023). I missed this Apple+ offering when it came out last year (as I did with “Blackberry”, which is also on my catch-up list!). Whizzing us back to the heady days of 1984 and a Russia where Mikhael Gorbachev is stuggling to hang onto power, this is a wonderful little film. It’s insane how many hours I spent playing this on Gameboy back in the day, but the story behind it is even crazier! I remember as a kid seeing different copyright information on the arcade version, the computer version & the Gameboy version, and thinking that was odd but after hearing what happened that all makes sense now. If you are a fan of Tetris or video games in general, it is definitely worth 2 hours of your time 🎥🍿👍🏻 #tetris #tetrismovie (at Las Vegas, Nevada) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cqd2onEviBi/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Why?!?!?!?!
TETRIS MOVIE PITCH
Tetris is getting a movie. That's weird. But, here's exactly how it should go down. Might as well embrace that communism symbolism, yo!
---
On the distant planet of Tetris, their star is finally coming to its end. As the star expands, it continues to oppress Tetris with ever-dangerous radiation. In order to promote equality, the leaders of Tetris have devised a system where parts of the planet shift and slot into each other at all times. The result is that every inhabitant is equally exposed to the same amount of radiation. This will keep everyone alive long enough to find a way to escape the galaxy. The higher-class isn’t pleased with this solution and believe that they should have less exposure to the radiation given their fiscal superiority.
When one cross group finds a way to deconstruct the system and misalign the blocks, all hell breaks loose. Not only is the lower-class being doused with radiation, but the conflicting blocks are causing irrevocable damage to the planet itself. Their world is coming to an end in more ways than one.
Now, one woman from the slums must find a way to ascend the blocks and save them all!
TETRIS.
