Danger Zone [Tetsuo/Red/Casey]
The job had been simple enough on paper; clear out a mutie hive and report back to the settlers. Now, though? Not so much. She’d downed two of them from her position on the ridge near the old Corvega factory before they had figured out where she was. Another one fell before Casey saw the need to reposition herself, and it was just as she pushed herself up and grabbed her rifle she heard the ground-shaking roar of something very big and very angry. Well fuck me, she thought incredulously.
She threw a look over her shoulder, eyes searching for anything that might give her the benefit of higher ground, but the only building around that wasn’t back towards the mutants was a half-crumbled garage; Not much help there.
One thing was certain; she couldn’t stay there. The regular mutants were peppering the hillside with bullets while steadily creeping closer, and their humongous, lumbering friend carved a path through abandoned and wrecked cars, throwing them out of the way like dominoes.
Putting Lexington in her proverbial rear view mirror, Casey slung her rifle over her shoulder and ran. Just as the sounds of the behemoth were starting to fade, another familiar mechanical whir reached her ears and she stopped.
It was the red paint that caught her attention first, and she stood there almost slackjawed for a couple of seconds before her brain caught up with her. “Red?” she called at the approaching sentry bot.
