The historic rains and subsequent flooding that have hit Texas, killing dozens and dozens of people, including many little girls at camp, is beyond tragic. Many parents have been told their little girl is dead, while other parents still wait, hoping against hope, that their own child will be found alive.

I don't believe anyone is responsible for this, there is no fault here. It's all part of climate change, and Nature is a lot stronger than we want to believe.

The President has announced that he's signed a 'major disaster declaration' for the affected area, which will help first responders get what they need. Keep in mind that this disaster is happening in Texas, a red state.

My concern is, as a citizen of California, will the President act as quickly to provide federal assistance to our state when wildfires break out in the late fall, as they usually do? That is literally his job, as President of the United States. He's not President of only the red states.

No matter what state you live in, tragedies and disasters can strike. For the parents and friends and relatives of all those affected in Texas, my heart goes out to you.
