My awesome advisor gave this lecture tonight. I loved it, mainly because so much of it hit home for me. I am a survivor of repeated traumatic brain injuries from childhood. I consider myself lucky to have found my “sanity,” peace, and hope through birds. Without birds, my path could have been entirely different. Birds have always been there for me, when no one else has. Some people never find that hope. I am pursuing my career in abnormal psychology because I believe I may be able to help contribute to research that will help catch these problems in individuals before they suffer and eventually murder.
