Treatment
Bright sunny day in Amsterdam. Bustling area full of action, people flying by on bikes, a bright array of characters making their way through the busy streets. Old lady sweeping leaves off the side walk, young girl selling flowers by the bridge. Young guy smoking a cigarette and listening to his iPod. Mother briskly walking with two naughty children. Two hipsters busking for change. Tourist asking for directions.
Another busy side street. Camera is positioned in the center, the canal is in the middle of the shot with a street either side. Two stoned tourists sitting by the canals feeding the swans, more people flying through the street on bikes. Two teenagers spraying a wall. A crazy homeless person yelling at everyone on the sidewalk. Another girl selling flowers. More crazy characters loitering around the street.
Birds eye view of the city. The sun starts to set, the mood and the look changes. Neon lights of every colour switch on, parents lead their children inside, the seedy side of Amsterdam comes out.
Establishing shot of Red Light district. Girls in windows, people out on the streets. A group of shading guys huddling together (implying a drug deal), someone falls into canal. Stray cats eating out of dumpsters etc.
Camera pans past an alley of sex workers in the window/doors. Some wave, some act flirty, some are smoking, some are not doing anything. A sleazy guy steps out of one of the doors. Camera reaches the last window/door and a hooker blows out a large puff of smoke that covers the entire screen.
Camera zooms out of smoke revealing a classic Amsterdam coffee shop. Customers at tables rolling joints, smoking joints, having a good time. Camera zooms all the way out of the door, then slowing up giving a bird eyes view of the city.
