Since they have gotten some attention I wanted to expand a bit on their lore and such. Especially they're quirks and what they represent.
Known as the Smiling Man or the Hunter, John is a bounty hunter with a permanent grin etched across his face.
His job is being a hit man for hire and doesn't have much ties to anyone.. with a few exceptions.
He adopts Alex as his own after finding her in one of his hunts.
John grew bored and wanted a challenge so he purposely blinded himself and gave Alex one of his eyes. Not only give her back her sight. But to also make his hunts more interesting.
Shooting guns so quick he shoots his own bullets to change their directory in order to hit the target or make them explode into shrapnel to hit several.
He uses his hearing to shoot his guns over his sight.
With both eyes, he was even able to predict the movements of his targets with 90% accurate.
He can see through the eye he gave to Alex.
now his size is his flaw, being small, he can easily be overtake
So he learned to be quick!
He represent wind and its ability to guide water... and it's quickness to cause devastating damage.
John and Ken are actually friends despite everyone thinking they're not. John has taken care of some rats for him from time to time
Known as the Mariner or the Porcelain Fish
2 Ken's tall, 3 John's wide, and 10 Mel's heavy, Alex is a product of heaven's lab... but she's not like Mel
Neon red blood that boils under her skin is acidic enough to eat through objects and living tissue (insert Xenomorph joke here)
Represents water, Calm and stoic on the surface, not a ripple in sight. But if you dive deeper, you'll realize the true anger she holds.... the rip current you didn't see, the horrid things that hide in the deep depths of the ocean.... it may take alot to agitate water, but when it does, it's devastating
Alex got size, strength, and speed. She's much faster than John without the suit but isn't as accurate with her suit of armor on. So she uses more close ranged attack or even barbed spears, harpoons, nets, and spearguns to catch her quarry. She's more of an ambush type. She even has a harpoon gun that shoots a spear and she can literal REEL IN HER TARGET LIKE A FISH
Her suit hides the fact that she is not dead... but she's not exactly a human... she's what Temperance calls a Failed Human. Think of it as a hollow knight situation... trying to create a perfect human but the moment one has a undesirable trait he has them removed and Alex is one of them.
She was dumped into the ocean and later dredged up by a net. Which is the source of the Porcelain Fish legend.
She lost her eye from a rotling spotting her and seeing how beautiful her eyes were. They wanted her eyes to keep and managed to get one... only to find out her blood burns through flesh.
The new eye John gave to her gives her extreme headaches so she tapes it shut and uses it for emergencies.
Despite her past, she hold no ill will towards Mel and actually mourns for the girl... for she knows what is to come and she cannot stop it as the old saying goes "Those who avoid or try to prevent fate will only hasten it closer"
Mel is like her annoying little cousin and she tries to get a rise out of her by pestering or even outright poking her to make her react... but she as yet to break Alex's stoicism.
So despite Alex being a bounty hunter like her pa, she still has a gentle soul. She hates the job but she also hates not eating. So when she's not hunting down people, she's studying the fauna of the GasLight District. Mainly by the docks and such.
What she'd do is get a jar or a glass tank, scoop up a fish and take it back to her room to study it. She'll draw dioramas and made models of the creature before later releasing it.... the issue is that because she has such a gentle soul, the animal makes a bond with her and doesn't leave when she releases them into the wild. (It's yet another hint to her origin)
So she has a bunch of fish and animals waiting by the edge of the pier/dock for her to come by.
She tries to keep it a secret but people do see her lurking in the docks with the fishes and other animals... hell even the angel birds will often flock close to her due to her hidden nature... despite her hating them since they're spies for the angels and virtues.
