2. Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?
There’s a few. I’m a sucker for soulmate AUs, but I’d need to figure one out; the other is the ‘magical mishap turned us into kids!’ trope, which would be fucking hilarious--imagine it, Vytal festival, Glynda’s losing her mind because oh dear gods Ozpin’s a toddler and so is Qrow and I think one of them just bit that Fall girl James help me. The comedic potential is just MASSIVE. I have that one outlined but I have so many WIPs already that finding time is fslhk;sjdlhkj
8. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
Oh. From secrets we brought into the light, Qrow venting about his inability to help Ozpin to Taiyang:
Qrow lashes out; his fist splinters the wooden step he’s sitting on with a resounding crack. “Fuck,” he says miserably, his vision blurring. “I don’t know what to do.”
“He’s grieving.”
Taiyang isn’t looking at Qrow; he’s looking up at the moon, azure eyes distant and pained. “Grief is hungry, Qrow,” he says. “Grief is empty, and it eats at your soul until you are hollow inside. Until you’re blind to everything but the pain and the emptiness where the missing pieces were. After a while, that’s what you become – missing pieces that can never be filled again.” He absently reaches for his wedding band, sliding it back and forth on his finger. “You’re grieving too, Qrow.”
Grief is a hard thing to think of and deal with, especially when it’s a very old and deep grief that’s been allowed to fester. Of all of the cast save for Ozpin, I think Taiyang would understand the concept best--he’s lost so much and had to learn to pick himself up for the sake of his children. I think I managed to capture a little bit of that in here, even if it might be a bit too eloquent for our dear brawler.
