Bounded by Blood and By Heart: Namine + Kairi

Being on her own in public didn’t usually bother her. She was used to the soft buzzing of the crowd as she walks, the smell of coffee and the sounds of cars as they zoom by to their destination. 

Well, this might be the only time that she’s bothered by being on her own. 

It’s cold-- no, it was freezing, the results of a blizzard that had decided to come barreling in unexpectedly. What seemed like a night of fun and festivities were soon ruined by the harsh weather that came over them, and even with the coat she’d gotten before going to the festival with Riku, it wasn’t as warm as she thought she was. 

Speaking of her silver haired boyfriend, she’d become separated from him, a realization that didn’t sit very well with her. Not only that, but there was no sign of Aqua, nor any sign of her cousin or twin. Of course, as she walks the streets, shielding her eyes as the flurries blew her way, she couldn’t see anyone. Had everyone already found shelter? It seems so, but she wasn’t going to rest until she made sure those close to her were okay. 

Then, a flash of red is spotted ahead of her, a sight that she almost misses until she turns her head. She only knew one person with hair as vibrantly red as--

              “Kairi!”

Namine cups her mouth, in an attempt to augment the sound of her voice, but she wouldn’t be surprised if her twin couldn’t hear her over the sound of the roaring wind. She fights her way through the wind and snow, to reach her sister, glad at least that she’s safe. Now, she can only hope that her repeated call of the other’s name could reach her in time. 

               “Kairi!”

                                                  AND WHEN KINGDOM COME I'LL HAVE YOU TO LEAN ON.

      The constant patter of rain befuddled the streets as to & fro the shoppers went. A hustle & bustle common for the streets of downtown Solias. It was not common for the hooded figure to appear within these streets as common as he did. Yet his appearance did nothing but ease his mission as he swiftly made way to a shop on the corner.

      Meeting QUOTA was key. There would be no rest for his actions as his eyes darted from row to row. Nimble fingers danced quickly along the jewlery held along the shop. His caerulean orbs as deep as the ocean scanned the material, as if scoping price with sudden calculations within his head.

      The boy could feel the wary eyes of the shop owner on him as he shuffled about. He knew his timing was precious. Time always seemed to be the dreaded factor in anything for the teen.

      It took a total of two minutes for a sucessful bank robbery. A calculated sixty seconds dedicated to the actual collection of money. Coupled with an added twenty seconds for hostage scrambles. The rest, forty seconds to be exact, was gettaway time.

      Now, in no way was Sora a skilled bank robber. & in no way would this shop excel to have the same prescendence as a bank persay. Yet, Sora knew for certain one thing.

                                       Robbery had a minute gateway period.

      In a FLASH the boy grasped a necklace hanging before him, ripping it from its confines as he ran his way out of the store. Shrill calls of THIEF rang into the night as Sora made his way through the town. He quickly tossed his hood down, easily blending in with the crowd due to his short stature.

      Feet pounded against pavement, leaving the boy to slip and glide into the door before him as he reached his destination. Moving himself back & a catch of breath brought the boy to knock on the door before him. His head shook, almost like a wet dog, ridding itself of the excess water caught within it from the rain.

      The boy was left in hope as he awaited, unsure if his best friend would even be behind the door before him.

Solias wasn't Aelluria, but it was a nicer place than she expected. However, it wasn't exactly to her advantage that most of the clothes she owned were black, and that dark fabric attracted all of the sunlight from the corners of the fuckin' Earth.

She looked completely out of place.

She was wearing a black sweater with a dark teal head shawl, and then black jeans, grey boots, and holding the leash to where her dog, Jacob, was sitting and panting happily. She was supposed to be walking her dog, but then some guy stopped by and asked if he could use her cellphone to call his mother.

She could guarantee she wasn't going to get that cellphone back, as it had been a good twenty minutes already. Dammit.

She sighed, trying to find a payphone (if they were still around) that she could call her cellphone company and have them track the phone for her. She didn't really want to go through the hassle of having to buy a new one... And then when she found one, she hadn't even put her quarter in when she realized Jacob was running off towards a poor, redheaded girl with ice cream in her hand.

"Jacob!" She shrieked, running after the canine before he pounced on the stranger. He had jumped on the female only once before Midna grabbed a hold of his leash, gently but firmly tugging and saying, "Heel, Jake..."

She then sighed, looking up at the female with a tired and pitying look. "I'm sorry, he's still not very good when he sees strangers with food..."

“You look like you’re getting a little frail... do you get any exercise in these days, Ken?”

The words stuck with him and played on repeat like the gentle chiding touch of a concerned mother. Thinking of worrying anyone, even a slight acquaintance like his sweet coworker, made Ken feel so guilty. That was why he decided to take up some kind of physical activity which was, after all, in his best interest anyway. Unfortunately for Ken, he didn’t think that jogging would be his forte, nor boxing or weight lifting. Eventually the young man found something he thought he could stick to easily enough that also wouldn’t be too hard on him- swimming. After buying a new set of swimming trunks and preparing himself for the activity he was actually even feeling excited about getting more fit.

The instant that Ken slipped into the pool he knew he’d chosen the right thing for a slightly introverted and extremely muscularly challenged young fellow like himself. Wading forward a little and feeling the gentle embrace of the water was so calming, but Ken had never actually tried to swim laps before so as he began to paddle around he realized something that made him feel ridiculous- he couldn’t swim laps properly until he learned some swimming methods a little more refined than the ever-popular doggy paddle.

Ken paddled around a little before he caught a figure swimming around as effortlessly as if they were a fish. “Oh...” he murmured to himself as he watched. She was a young woman, probably a high schooler, and she looked like she practically grew up in a pool. As she drifted closer Ken found himself asking, “How did you get so good at swimming?”

When he wasn’t busy hanging out with Namine or doing school work, Riku could usually be found hanging out with his two best friends, Sora and Kairi. One of their favourite places to hang out would be the beautiful beaches that Solias had to offer. And today wasn’t gonna be any different. He had promised Kairi earlier that he was going to meet her at the beach today after school. After all, he hadn’t seen her in a few days, which was almost considered along time with her. After finishing his class for the day, he made his way over to the beach and noticed Kairi waiting in the usual spot as he gave her a friendly wave. He made his way over to her and gave her small smile.

“Hey there, Kairi. Sorry we haven’t been able to meet up at all these past few days, school has kind of been a killer lately. So how’s school been going for you lately, huh?”

It wasn’t too often that she stopped by her grandmother’s house, even though her sisters still lived there-- work and school kept her fairly busy, particularly the latter as she unfortunately had a very difficult professor this year who seemed to love to do nothing more than hassle her every single time she so much set foot into class. (If she wasn’t graded on attendance, she’d consider not going...)

Today was different as Aqua set aside time to go see her younger sisters, and she opened the door with a bright smile, holding a box of craft supplies underneath her arm-- she figured she could join them in making trinkets like they used to. However, only Kairi was visibly in the living room as Aqua set the box down on the counter.

“Hey Kairi! Look what I got you and Namine-- is she around? I figured we could hang out today...”

What was he supposed to do on his weekends? Battler sat back and stared at his coffee cup with a bored expression. If he had another donut he’d look like a fatass and probably wouldn’t be able to pass his next physical because, honestly, one more donut isn’t ever just one more donut. At least he could enjoy a cup of coffee and look a little less like a stereotype. Only a little less though. The young man blew on his coffee and took a long dramatic sip, letting out an obnoxious ahhhh sound once he was done. Well, that didn’t cure his boredom at all.

The young man looked up at the people passing and frowned as a young lady dropped something and just kept walking. Eyebrow quirking, Battler threw payment for his coffee on the table and jogged over to pick up the dropped item, shouting “Hey, hey you dropping something miss!”

Looking down at it, Battler smiled a little. It was some kind of... shell trinket? It was cute. “This is yours right?”

“Marine biology....is it?”

It wasn’t often one of Ultimecia’s habits to lean over children’s shoulders and look at what they’re reading, but when they’re sitting by the ocean and have such a thick tome in their hands, well, even the strange witch can have her curiosity piqued.

“An impressive pursuit...are you aspiring, perhaps?”
