Shot of Amelie in the Zoro mask: This is a centered close-up shot of Amelie in the Zoro outfit. The eye-line is a clear center that makes the shot proportional. The whole movie is centered on the use of greens and reds, so the pure green background in this shot creates an interesting contrast with Amelie’s skin tone. Therefore, the focus is on Amelie’s face that is obviously popping out of the background.
Shot of Abbesses train station The proportions of this shot are clear and centered in a way where the 180 degree rule is applied. The subject (Amelie) is wandering around the focused centered background and that is an intensely good shot. We can still see the balanced greens and reds that make up the emotions of the movie.
I liked these screenshots because of their compositions and the way they are centered. I am really interested in the way things are placed to grab one’s attention.
