The Simplest Fish Thali - Done . This is a Latergram. . I had ordered pomfret slices from @fishvish_social because my papa @ravindradiddee was in town & Pomfret is his favourite. Whilst everything else was kept simple, the complete thali left us all in Beached Whale Syndrome & we spent the rest of the day barely moving. Clockwise : 1. That Freshly Steamed Rice . 2. That Simplest of Tuvar Dal/Lentils I pressure cooked skinless split pigeon peas /tuvar/arhar in salted water along with asafoetida, turmeric powder & asafoetida. I tempered an unmentionable amount of ghee with cumin seeds, mustard seeds, dalle chillies, curry leaves, garlic & red chilli powder & threw it into the simmering lentils & cooked on slow till it thickened. . 3. Those popadums that Rads gave me. . 4. Those Fluke Fishy Onion Bhajjias/Fritters I had some marinade of the fried fish leftover & it was so tasty that I didn't have the heart to bin it. So I added some rawa/semolina, raw onions & fresh coriander & fried in the leftover oil that I fried the fish in. Oh my God this turned out to be yummier than the actual fried fish!! 5. That Rawa Fried Pomfret I made a thick masala paste out of BON fish fry masala +vinegar +water. I coated the pomfret slices with this & then lightly coated with rawa/semolina & shallow fried in groundnut oil till crispy on the outside & soft & succulent on the inside.
