It was warm. A bit... too warm for their tastes.

A breeze brushed their hair back, pushed against their shut eyes, forcing them open just a bit paired with the sound of a holler.

“Ryyyyoooo-kun! Come on!”

They blinked, gazing off into the distance. The ocean stretched on seemingly endlessly before them, knees pulled up to their chest.

The sand was no longer burning their freckled feet- rather, they had become numb to the whole sensation.

“Come on, dumbass! What’s taking you so long?”

The next thing they knew, they were at home, exhausted and soaked from the beach. It’d taken roughly five minutes to walk there to the house, and for that, they were thankful- a short journey. Something was off, and they knew it.

Darkness. The house was silent, creaking only slightly with its age. Quiet. A note was left on the counter- they couldn't read it. The writing was smudged, and honestly... Ryo was a late bloomer when it came to reading skills.

A dull ache could be felt in their heart, and they knew this would be for a long time to come.
