I love Olson in denial. He’s so desperate to deny his crush on Gary that it comes to the point he just calls Art. Art gets a “Barkovitch is fucking insane right?” out of nowhere one day and Hank just begins to list every bullshit Gary has ever done in hopes of Art backing him up. He goes on for like an hour only for Art to clock him… “You like him don’t you?”

Hank would rather eat glass than tell anyone he likes Gary, but he trusts Art. BakerSon best friendshipism is sososo important to me and so everytime Hank can’t deal with arguing with himself, he just goes and vents abt it to Art. Art would be the only one he tells at first. He loves Pete and Ray, but he’s not ready to admit his crush to them just yet. It would be a very deep conversation between Art and Hank at first. Hank’s desperate to know Art’s thoughts on this, but I feel Art would be supportive in the end. Probably concerned for sure, but he can tell Hank has really put thought into this. He’d rag on Hank, but it helps eases Hank’s mind having someone to talk to. Tho he hates when Art has that dumb, smug smile whenever Gary is around and Hank is there

But it’s a temporary relief before Hank is back to burying his feelings, but fear not I have more!!! I think another way Hank handles his feelings for Gary is messing with him LOL. He’s always messed with Gary, but damn it. If Barkovitch is going to drive him insane, he’s going to drive Gary insane back. Like pulling on a girl’s pigtails. Yes it’s a way to get back at Gary in general, but I think he also does it because he thinks pissing Gary off will somehow lead to him losing feelings. WRONG!!! They just make his feelings grow. Gary’s reactions are so entertaining it endears Hank. Cue him complaining to Art abt this later

Oughhhh they make me sick;;; walk with me here, but I also think Hank does try to get closer to Gary in his own way. Like if he’s going to like Gary he’s going to figure him out. Or atleast a valid reason why. “Hey Barko, you still haven’t explained the whole Meemaw thing” “Why the fuck did you take a photo of that?” “Jesus Barko who pissed in your cereal this morning?” and get Gary talking. He tries to play it off casual. Don’t ask too many questions. Is this too personal? He’s being normal right?

Hank is in a vicious cycle of denying that he likes Gary, and when even he knows it’s pointless to keep lying to himself, he either a) tries to get rid of his crush on Gary or b) find any reason it’s fine to crush on him.
