Tomb Raider The Angel of Darkness

An underrated masterpiece. Lara Croft at her finest. It’s the evolution we deserved.

We had a strong and badass woman before, but AoD Lara combined all the qualities + a darker side because it’s how Lara deals with trauma. She doesn’t cry, she stands for helself. She was done with everyone’s bullshit after what happened in Egypt.

The cliché we have nowadays (Laraboot) is not as related as they like to say. A woman doesn’t cry because she’s killed a deer and the next day becomes a serial murderer/butcher. If that’s relatable, I’m scared.

However, Lara Croft was born brave. She ain’t taking shit. No need to make a female character young, weak, inexperienced first in order to “create an evolution” afterwards. AoD Lara showed us that there’s evolution for an already strong character.

A lot of fans say that AoD Lara was a bitch. Folks... she was THE bitch. Are you too scared of a woman that doesn’t need to be taken care of? Do you need to protect the character in order to feel useful? Well, then there you have your Laraboot. I’d rather admire and learn than protect 😉

And this is, ladies and gentlemen, the original and the only one Lara's biography. I know no biography but this one and I know no Lara but this one. This was a bio worthy for a hero. ••• Crystal decided to change her biography when they took the franchise (TR Legend). They changed her manor and copied the one we saw in Tomb Raider movie (starring Angelina Jolie). It seems Crystal liked that drama about Lara being an orphan and they changed her original motivations (find adventures, collect artifacts...) into search her mother and follow her father steps.
