Pie Crust - what is your OC’s favorite holiday treat?

Mercer paced back and forth in front of the oven like a wolf tracking a hare. He squinted and knelt some to peer through the glass at the roasting bird.

“Soon..” he said, his lips curling back to the point they bared fang. “Soon..”

What is your OC’s relationship with his/her mother? (Chantal)

Soon after the traditional end-of-Phoenix Bellisario feast, on this occasion held at one of their Harathi sawmills which saw fit to decorate to the nines, a morose Chantal waited outside the carriage who’d take them back to the estate.“After all the work I put in, graduating a year earlier, getting higher marks than the rest of them in my QSC entrance exam, seeing fit to prepare an elaborate piano piece for the feast’s entertainment, and nothing.  I get no accolades, no credit beyond what was given to all.  A pat in the back at best, for all my efforts…  And yet Mother….”

Later that same week…

“My Lady Chantal, the Baroness awaits you, your presence is requested at her tea party.”  Her chambermaid offered, attempting to rouse the wallowing girl.  “All the guests have arrived.”

But Chantal wouldn’t hear it, languidly remaining under the plush covers.

“Tell her I will not be joining.”“But, my lady…” “You can tell her I am indisposed, that I’m ill,” Chantal insisted.“Are you, my lady?”  The worried maid asked.“Me?  Of course not!   But she will not control my life, not if I can have a say in it.  I’ll -make- myself ill if I have to, but she will not have her way, not this time.”The maid gasped, nervously approaching the opulent bed, “My lady, do not say such things!”“What, I’ll drink a bottle of perfume and make myself ill if I have to show up, prove to her I’ve got a far more strong will than she does.  You don’t believe me capable of going that far?”  Sititng up, Chantal cast the mousy maid a fierce, defiant look, “Then watch.  Hand me that red bottle on my vanity.”

(( Needless to say, Chantal’s relationship with Maria is….strained.   Being her biological daughter, it means Maria’s very tough on her, with far higher expectations than she has for her step-children.  It doesn’t help that rumors circulate about Chantal potentially being a bastard and not actually fathered by Baron Bellisario, given that she’s not even an year younger than Belle.   That, compounded with Maria’s commoner background, forces the Baroness to be extra strict and disciplined with Chantal and far more lax with the rest.In turn, Chantal resents her mother but at the same time strives to meet said expectations two-fold.  Like her mother, she’s of very strong and determined character.  But she’s self-conscious about her status in the family and feels the need to excel at everything in comparison to her half-siblings.  Not to mention maintaining decorum and a pristine reputation is paramount to her, just like her mother expects her to.   She’s conflicted, though, because deep down she wishes she could have as much fun as the others without risking Maria’s (or society’s) disapproval.  ))

What is your OC’s imagination like? (Marissa)

“You want my help with the debutante party ideas?   Oh, I’m not sure I’m the right person for that.   Now, my sister Mila, she’s the creative sort, she would be the one you’d want to go to for ideas!  She’s....an artist!  I’m more of a...I’m less proactive with creativity and more reactive.  I will still do my best to help and make it snazzy though!”

“Give me a list or some guidance and I’ll find you the perfect gift, for example.  Although my friend Sabrina has taken over that personal shopping business we started...” (( Marissa is definitely the more passive of all the Bellisarios.   She’s a daydreamer, a romantic, the sort that will get lost in books and birdwatching and leans toward the boring side.   She’s not the one who’ll come up with a wild idea but she’s the one who’ll help you execute it!))
