You could say RENT means a lot to me. People always seem to be surprised when I say it’s my favorite show because now it’s such a part of the mainstream, but it’s more than that to me. It’s the show where I had my “ring of keys” moment during One Song Glory and thought, “That’s what I want to do. We’re all settled in this room together watching this moment right now and I can’t imagine a more magical experience.” It’s the first show that I loved so much I had to see it 3 times on Broadway. I HAD to see it again 3 days before closing because closing was sold out. I dressed as Mimi for Halloween in 2009 even though I was ridiculed for wanting to dress as a stripper. I played Joanne in a production in 2010 and sang La Vie Boheme in the real Life Cafe before it closed. I signed the RENThead registry. I saw the tour with Adam and Anthony at NJPAC and the revival when it came back to Off Broadway. I wrote NO DAY BUT TODAY on my first grad cap. I dressed as Maureen for Halloween 2016 and BroadwayCon 2017. I’ve slowly been meeting every Original Broadway Cast member and having them sign my closing night Playbill. I rewatch it every Christmas Eve at December 24th, 9pm, Eastern Standard Time. RENT is a huge part of my life and I wouldn’t be the person I am without it. When they announced @rentonfox I was skeptical, but tonight I’m beyond excited to watch as we add another big scale production to the history books. RENT changed my life and will forever be my favorite.
