I really hope this all gets cut off on Instagram. If not, I'm so damn sorry. . . . . . . . . . Eleven years ago, I saw the first MCU movie in Iron Man. I adored RDJ's performance in the movie a ton. It felt so genuine and he was just so relatable to me, for some reason(minus the mechanical heart that doubles as an energy source). It was also my first look at Robert and his career. I found out about how he had the lowest of lows. His combating drug abuse and coming out on top had resonated with me considering my mom had tried her own battles with it and, sadly, failed. It was too late for her, but she's at peace. Seeing Robert as Iron Man was like seeing Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. He fit the bill of Tony Stark so well that you didn't see RDJ. You saw Tony Freaking Stark. Granted, I didn't see Iron Man 3(I should've), but from what I've seen in other MCU movies he's in, it really shows how damn good an actor he is. I dunno, I'm trying to find the right words for all of this, but I guess what I'm trying to say is I felt like I related to Tony Stark more than any other character in the MCU. Hell, I feel like I relate to Robert himself more than most actors. And then I saw Tony die. I saw Tony come up from hardship and captivity. I saw him learn to forgive his father's mistakes. I saw him try to do things the right way that he felt was that. I saw him understandably lose his cool when he learned about his parents's fate. I saw him mentor a young up-and-coming hero as a father figure he needed, hoping to succeed where his father didn't. I saw him mourn the loss of Peter. I saw him get his second chance at being a good father. I saw him work to make sure everyone else could get that second chance. I saw him full of relief when he saw Peter and hugged him. And I saw him sacrifice himself so everyone could get their happy ending. I'm gonna miss MCU Iron Man. Just, thank you so much, Robert. For everything.
