Remember Mythril the cat who my girlfriend and I named after you? He turned 10 this month. Still incredibly fluffy, still an absolute lovebug. Lately he's taken to climbing in our laps and purring up a storm while we pet him and pet him. He's still a good "big brother" to his "little sister" Butterscotch, who turns 5 later in the year.

Issue with that is that Tad has stated many times that the Ducktales canon is not the same as the Darkwing canon. If anything, his inclusion of the Money Bin on that list is a reference to that episode, but it’s not something Launchpad actually did in this canon.

You don't see it as much anymore, thankfully, but back in the early 2000s there used to be way too much fan content where Trunks was an evil domestic abuser who'd beat up and cheat on Goten. And I always wondered what show they watched, because in the DBZ I watched, they're the absolute closest best friends ever who couldn't live with themselves if they hurt each other.

goddddd yeah ive never seen content THAT bad but like. if u scroll down far enough on my funny twitter you will see a tweet where i mention the time i scrolled thru a truten y*oi blog just because my executive dysfunction didnt let me leave and most of the content on it was definitely reminiscent of that *hold’s head in hands*

and yeah like i really dont understand it whatsoever. i have this theory that fujoshis only have one ship and just switch out which two characters theyre meant to look like. and i also really dont understand the appeal? to take the concept of an incredibly loving relationship between two people who have been best friends for their whole lives and be like “yeah im gonna use THIS of all things to glorify and romanticize abuse” WHAT?????? LITERALLY WHY??

and dont even get me started on the incredibly opposite way theyre characterized in content like that where theyre clearly intended to be seen as “the girl one” and “the boy one” because leave it to fetishistic cishet women to be completely unable to grasp the concept of gay love in the slightest

i could honestly write an essay about this (and this far from the first time ive considered doing that lol) but im gonna leave you on this note. ive seen some japanese content of them in which theyre adults but still refer to each other with the -kun honorific which i find really suspect because they refer to each other with that honorific as kids but they dont use any honorifics for each other as adults so like. why would you do that unless you still characterize them as if theyre still children..? <-and i think this sentiment explains a lot about whats wrong with the bad truten content out there

Yeah, streams might be more interactive if you're there, but if you're watching it later, in my experience, the player barely comments on the game and spends most of their time responding to comments that either: you can't see; are taking up a large part of the game; or are off in a corner where you have to keep swapping your attention back and forth. I dunno, maybe it's just me.

I meant from the standpoint of the person DOING the streams, as a reason for them enjoying doing so, not so much from the stance of someone watching them later or such.  I get what you mean, but the content creators have to be able to enjoy what they’re doing too, after all.  Like in my case, I have people constantly poking me about “when’s the next Mega Man project” while I’m trying to work on other stuff I enjoy doing.  Being forced to only play one series to please those fans, I wouldn’t enjoy myself so much.  Basically as a content creator, it’s impossible to please everyone no matter what you do, not an easy balance.

Is it weird that I'm disappointed so many LPers are switching over to mostly or fully streaming? I find Let's Plays much more enjoyable, and to me recordings of streams are almost unwatchable if you weren't there for the original stream.

I mean, I can’t watch livestreams when they’re on due to bandwidth limitations, so I pretty much HAVE to watch the VODs.  I’d guess for some it’s that you can engage more with fans doing a livestream than you can making videos, like, with vids, any interaction is generally after the fact (or before in the case of feeding me trivia as you have been), whereas with a livestream you can engage with fans AS you’re playing, involve them more in the process.  For some, there may be financial reasons, maybe it’s easier for them to make more of a living off streaming than producing single vids or such.  It’s hard to say from my side since I CAN’T stream.  I feel like if I had access to that, I’d probably want to keep both going, sometimes I’d feel more like working on an LP, sometimes I’d feel more like streaming.

When I was a kid, I could open my presents on Christmas morning but couldn't actually play with them until the afternoon because we had to go to a fancy restaurant to have lunch. Any games I got, I would take the instruction manuals and read them while we waited for the food. One of my favorite Christmas memories is reading the Simon's Quest manual and getting pulled into the world before I ever played the game.

Yeah, I miss the days of real instruction manuals.
