Emilie followed Kaira into the modiste and could only marvel at…everything. She’d never seen so many beautiful dresses in all her days. Fixing her gaze on the dresses she presented, she reluctantly stepped forward and ran her fingers over the fabric. It was finer than anything she’d ever worn.
“You’re too kind,” she said before deciding, “This is the one, I believe.”
It was a soft pastel pink that shimmered in the evening light. Its fabric was silken, as lightweight as a feather. It was beyond the simple cotton dresses she typically wore but it was perfect.
