Best Guitar Song of All Time???
I enjoy all kinds of music. I go out of my way to try to sample the best that all kinds of genres have to offer, including those that I don't usually enjoy as much. I love electornic, hip-hop, jazz, and all kinds of guitar-less music. All this to establish that I am not a rockist "the guitar solo is the end all be all of good music" type. And yet. I sure do love me some guitar. Especially if it's slathered in all kinds of exciting effects.
Which brings me to "That Lady" by The Isley Brothers. Is this the best guitar song of all time? Maybe! It's certainly one of my favorites! Ernie Isley lays down one of the all time greatest guitar performances (with Marvin Isley also killing it on bass right beside him). The fact that part two is entirely dedicated to letting the Isleys jam on the instrumental is a gift to all of mankind, letting Ernie and company simply let the wah-wah funkfest go wherever it takes them, and it takes them right to the top! That's not even touching on the mountain of other hooks the song includes, like a great piano riff, and Ronald Isley's instantly iconic vocal delivery leading into the pause on the gang vocals. There's a reason 3+3 includes "Featuring: That Lady" prominently on the cover!

The Isley's original version of their song, Who's That Lady, was released Apr 64, in a version sounding much like The Impressions. Their first top 40 hit, Twist and Shout (1962) was famously covered by The Beatles. This was their seventh of 13 top 40 hits through 2001.
