She promises herself she won't tell him... and really, the Duchess doesn't even need to do that, the girl knows she's not going to no matter what. This was going to be interesting. He was different to her in every single way — his manner of speaking, the empowering yet casual way he walked, and how brave he was in the face of danger. A frail, timid girl like Fiona might not be able to pull off such a strong impression.
Still, she tries, attempting to deepen her voice as she mutters, “Uh, go hide. I’ve got everything under control!” And then she awkwardly mashes a fist into her hand and tries to walk in that strong, independent manner…
… only to end up falling down and wondering why she even tried.

"… Y .. you really think that, Fillan?" Her voice is as quiet as his when she finally speaks, and her gaze darts to the floor. Well… now that she really thought about things, he couldn’t have much else.
As a thief and a robber, the man has probably had to steal most of what he has. And she can certainly understand such behavior, people get desperate, people get hungry…
