Why was he dragged to the damn bar again? No, why did he volunteer to drive Sanford there and be the man sober to drive him back? Because his partner was bored, but well behaved. Heck, more than half of the stitches were okay to come out clean today. And while the techie did ALL the housework, he felt the field medic needed a change from the boring norm.

So here he was, nearly asleep, trying not to drool on the bench in this smoke riddled bar. He had no smokes on him either, nor the cash to get more. So he was fresh out. He hated second hand smoke. Well, as long as Sanford was loud and drunk and happy, that's all that matters...right?

Another grunt and a swing of his pickaxe, and that's another clump of metal freed from the wall in the mines. Every echo lit up his vision for him, but as he stood back to admire his work with a tapping foot, he noticed that someone was lurking in the mines, and it wasn't another wheezy miner. He turns around, ready to attack anything that was a ghoul or a spectre.
