3) Do you prefer writing OC’s or reader inserts? Explain your answer.
100% OC’s. reader inserts are not really something i have ever been interested in, though i know many others are. i just find it easier to create this whole new character who is their own person, rather than trying to bend and fold a character that could fit a y/n environment. i don’t think that makes any sense at all, but it does in my mind.
15) If you write OC’s, how do you decide on their names?
sometimes a name will just come to me because it’s a name i have always liked/wanted to use or i see the face claim and the name instantly comes to mind, but then there are times when i spent days or weeks searching name berry or other baby name sites in hopes of finding the perfect name for this character but nothing ever jumps out to me. i don’t like to just “settle” when it comes to character names or face claims. they have to be perfect. i also tend to ask friends what names they like best and what names suit the face claim because sometimes two heads is better than one.
33) What’s the biggest compliment you’ve gotten?
nothing in particular stands out to me right now as i have gotten feedback of all kinds over the years i have been posting my writing online, but i think the biggest compliments for me personally are when people give me feedback about my actual writing and not just the plots of my stories. don’t get me wrong, i fucking love the feedback that revolves around the plot and characters because i could talk about them forever, but it’s when people talk about the actual writing side of things.....it just feels so lovely. even more so when it comes from another writer and especially someone you admire!
39) Do you prefer first, second or third person?
never second person but first and third varies. for me, it all depends on the story itself and what i think suits it best. i love both first person and third person for different reasons. for first person, i find it best suits stories where you can really get into the characters head and write their feelings and thoughts and inner dialogue etc, as well as writing a one set mind (i.e. their pov) and so certain events or opinions are swayed because it’s only what they see. whereas with third person, i find it better if it’s more plot driven rather than character driven and you want to give a more overview of the character without really digging into their mind. i know other people may see these differently, but that’s just how i see them and what my thoughts on the two are!
