I’m visiting a bunch of different puppies in the next weeks, why are there no actual guides on etiquette when visiting a breeders litter?

Sorry, I just have to get this out

I just watched a documentary about unethical dog breeders and there were so many people in the comments saying breeders in general were evil.

That’s just sooo far from the truth, I hate that the public perception of breeders is either “Oh, they can do no wrong” or “Everyone of them is the devil and they only do wrong”

I looked at the websites of some of the breeders that were mentioned, and it shocked me that people seriously think that’s the same thing as a serious breeder. They didn’t have a page about their breeding philosophy and goals, nothing about health testing or courses they attended and nothing about their breed except “They’re for beginners, you don’t need to train them and they cost 6000€”

I can’t even fathom someone thinking that’s somewhere you want to get a dog from. They don’t even want to meet the buyers beforehand!

I just hate it so much that those people destroy the reputation of dog breeding in general, ethical breeders are your friends guys! They care about shelter dogs, and they care about their dogs being healthy and having good owners!

I just got a Camera

I think I’m gonna start photographing peoples dogs on the street, seems fun and is good practice. Problem is I basically know every dog owner in a radius of 100 km, it would just be like

“Hello, I’m …, I take pictures of strangers dogs on the street”

“Oh, nice to see you again …, how was the show last weekend? Toffee has been having some problems with agility, but we’re, etc.”

My friend and I also want to start walking dogs, since we could easily just do that when going on runs together. I could take pics of those dogs as an extra for free too 🤔

He was feeling rather silly …

Went on a walk with Disney and Nashville yesterday, it was quite fun, always love a good old vicarious dog ownership.

Disney wanted to play tug of war the whole time, I’m not proud to admit that my arms were hurting a bit the next day. Nashville was just happy to be there, when Disney slept an hour after the walk he just walked around, getting pets from everyone.

I talked with their owner quite a lot, about puppies, breeders, sports, etc. She may be getting a Tervuren Puppy soon (next year), she’s really into the Belgians right now. It was fun and I did feel a bit proud when she asked me about my opinion on certain pedigrees and dogs.
