The tremor forced Winter to grab at the nearest railing to keep from falling, but before she could demand to know what was going on, alarms sounded and emergency lights flashed. She knew something was wrong, but what caused this to happen was what she needed to find out.
Announcements blared over the intercom system, but she ignored them. She made the orders.
Before she could get an answer from her pilot, and other tremor followed by an explosion shook the aircraft and Winter felt her stomach drop.
They were falling out of the sky.
Another explosion shook the ship and Winter lost her balance and hit her head as she fell. Despite the pain, she tried holding on to anything that would allow her to keep from being thrown around the cabin, but the crash came sooner than she thought it would.
The sound of crunching metal drowned out the blaring alarms.
Winter wasn’t sure if it was a blessing that she retained consciousness after the crash, but it did not help that she was now pinned under heavy equipment. Everything hurt, she likely had more injuries than she was aware of, and her ears were ringing, but she needed to get help.
Groping around for her scroll, she knew that if others were hurt or trapped, she needed to get someone to come and get them. At least there weren’t many actual personnel that weren’t robotic to worry about; however, she was pinned and still did not know who attacked her ship in the first place. Whoever attacked could be hoping to find her, but if she could just get out a message....
A sharp pain forced her to stop and take a break from the exertion. Well, things could be better. She just needed a moment to think of something. She was better than this.
