The Abbey asking for donations to build a fucking chapel in the Dust District, where people (especially miners) are dying left and right and getting silver dust in their lungs, is honestly so diabolical. Like I know the Howlers aren't great either, but I always choose to kill Byrne and side with Paolo because the Overseers just... Leave such a bad taste in my mouth. I think they're so terrible tbh. Like executing random people just for having "heretical artifacts" like bonecharms and runes on them?? Kidnapping random children for the Trials of Aptitude and MURDERING THE CHILDREN WHO DON'T PASS? (They do the same thing to wolfhounds, too). The amount of authority they have, carrying out sentences such as seizure of property, financial recompense, public humiliation, service to the Order, prison time, and execution, is really horrifying. They can just fucking kill people at their discretion. And the entire Siege of White Cliff thing is just awful as well. Idk I just hate the Abbey so much. I don't see enough Abbey hate on here (or maybe I'm just like ten years late to this fandom and I've missed it all LOL)
