My dad loves bees.
In a lapse of judgment, I told him “oh, you would love this one episode of Hannibal! An acupuncturist lobotomizes a guy and fills his head with bees!”
He did not, in fact, think that sounded cool or at all like something he would enjoy, even when I went further to explain that the bees weren’t hurt during the process, but just given a nice place to build a hive.
In hindsight, I understand why my family thinks I’m strange.
I'm really confused what did bee lady do to the second guy?? She removed his eyes and stuff but why didn't he scream for help when they found him under the tree??
She had performed a full frontal lobotomy on him, which severs the reasoning centers of the brain away from the rest of the brain. It's been a long time since I studied this subject, but IIRC it's possible to do a frontal lobotomy without rendering a person quite to that state, but given the size of her spike, her hammering it, and her twisting it around in there, she basically made the man's brain into mush, and I think maybe pulled some of it out through his eye sockets. Anyway, he was left in an ambulatory but essentially vegetative state, what I think Zeller called "the walking dead." He didn't know he needed help.
That's what she meant when she said she "quieted" him.
