Envi Shoes sat down with Elijah Daniel
Comedy writer & Twitter Personality @AGuyWithNoLife
Elijah, talk to us a little about your background in writing before Twitter.
My first actual writing gig was for a Christian newspaper when I was 12. I had my own column called "Kidz Korner" where I re-wrote bible stories for kids my age to understand.
After that I started writing for websites and blogs, and eventually started writing scripts for movies and TV shows.
In 2012 I wrote a script with my friend and fellow comedy writer, Jay Such, which we pitched to networks like NBC. Since then I've been working on some secret projects, which I'm really excited to launch later this Spring.
Did Twitter help or take time away from writing or does it keep you on your toes?
Twitter is a huge time-waster, no doubt. One minute I'm being productive and the next I'm looking at Oprah's tweets, wondering why she won't follow me back. But at the same time I've gotten so many opportunities through twitter that all the time-wasting is actually paying off.
Before social media, what did you think was in store for your future?
I either wanted to be a writer or a hardcore gangster rapper, there is no in-between.
Pros & Cons of being sought after online?
Everything is a pro in it's own way, honestly. It just depends on how you view things.
What doors has social media opened for you?:
I can't really talk about a lot of the things I'm doing, because they're still in the works. But it's definitely opened a lot of doors and given me the opportunities to work with so many of my favorite people and companies. (I'm talking about you, Taco Bell)
Any horror story from an online encounter?
I once had a 57yr old man find my home address and send me a box full of teddy bears. So I mean...
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully not dead or in jail, but let's be real I'll probably be in jail.
What do you think is the future of Social Media as we know it?
Anything that isn't Google+
How do you keep up with 81 THOUSAND followers?
I can't. I can barely even keep up with the Kardashians.
Any advice for aspiring comedy writers? Or writers of any kind?
Just keep writing, and only do it if you truly enjoy it.
What’s something you’d want your followers to know about you?
I love Harry Styles.
What would you say your style is?
My style is either "homeless" or "hipster girl on her way to starbucks" there is no in-between.
When looking for a pair of shoes, what do you look for?
I walk a lot, so comfort is definitely the number one thing.
