The National’s 5th studio album was released in Europe on 10 May 2010 (and a day later in the US).
High Violet debuted at #3 on the US Billboard chart, selling more than 50,000 copies in its first week. It has gone on to sell more than 300,000 copies, the band’s best-selling effort by a wide margin.
The album appeared on a number of “Best Of” lists for 2010, including Q (Album of the Year), Time (#4), the Village Voice (#8), and Rolling Stone (#15).
