That’s not how they meant it, though. Still a nice lyrical departure from the normally borderline MRA stuff in the Dramatics repertoire even if the beat (ironically) doesn’t knock as hard as their best work.

This is not the best song by the Dramatics by any means, but its my favorite to sing along to.  I love how in the time between when this was recorded and now, the literal meaning of the title/chorus of the song has sort of changed mostly due to the change of the slang meaning of "Dope".  Listen to anything by this group that you can get your hands on.
