Ben Edge (British, 1985) - The Devil's Den (2021)
It is over, M*levin…
Vecna really exposed Byler like that 🫢
Spoilers for the finale space season 3 finale The devils den.
I liked how the episode started. It was very quiet. There were no jokes etc. Everyone was still processing everything that happened, and it shows.
I also liked that we got a little bit of Nightfall this episode. It's another example that Nightfall always had good intentions and was always trying to do what she can to help the team succeed.
I think Sheryl had a good point when she said "Every choice and sacrifice we makes shapes our future." Quinn never wanted to be exactly like Nightfall, but she realized that following in her footsteps doesn't mean she'll become a completely different person if she wore the helmet.
The saddest part of the episode and honestly my favorite part of the episode is when Little Cato asked. "Is it true? Did you kill my parents?" And Avacato told him "Yes"
I don't know about anyone else, but I thought that entire scene was done very well. Coty and Steven delivered their lines perfectly in my opinion. From their line delivery and their expressions, especially little Cato's reaction, you could tell how much it hurt Little Cato to learn the truth from Avacato himself.
Avacato's reaction was great too. He was so ashamed of what he's done. And he didn't hesitate to tell him, how much he loves him. Avacato was right finding Little Cato when he did, it saved him. He would still be the person who murdered the king and queen without hesitating. If he hadn't. Finding and being Little Catos Father made him realize that he's not too far gone, there's good in him. And he can change for the better. Avacato even admitted that all he wanted was too be Little Catos Father.
I also loved Gary in that scene too. He admitted they weren't the parents Little Cato deserved. But they loved him, they wouldn't have come all that way to get him if they didn't.
I also liked that. Gary apologized to Ash. That he admitted that they failed her. In a way they had. They really couldn't be there for her the way she needed them to be.
While I was a little surprised that the Lord Commander is still alive, I think being trapped the way Bolo was is a fitting way to leave his character. Although I'm sure that's not the last time we'll see him.
While I'm not surprised, I am sad that Mooncake and Ash were left in final space. Olan did a great job with Gary's reaction and it makes me wonder if there is a way to get them back with the bridge destroyed.
The very ending really makes me hope the show is renewed or is able to continue some other way. Invictius escaped Final space as the bridge was destroyed. Who knows what his next move is. The way Gary said "What have we done?" Was also done very well by Olan. They messed up by not leaving when the portal was first opened. And I think they realized that.
I'm still hoping the show will continue in some way. But if three seasons is all we get, I'm glad we got as much as we did. It wasn't perfect by any means, but it didn't have to be. The show had great characters music etc. To me this was also a really good season finale. Hopefully the show can get a proper ending like it deserves.
