In the spirit of Femslash February 2026, I am suddenly craving the toxic bitter exes to second-chance romance timeline Kalinor should have had in W.I.T.C.H. season 2.
The version of themselves in the comic could be in a sense, the most idealised versions of themselves. They stuck to their principles and called out Kandrakar for their lack of interference in saving Cassidy and Nerissa from their fates, even if it meant being stripped of their powers and immortal spirits and banished to Earth. They spent the rest of their lives together, hand in hand, helping raise abandoned and orphaned children and keeping a vigilant watch over Will to make sure history never repeated itself.
But that was the best case scenario. What they actually did was betray their original values completely. Halinor became loyal to Kandrakar in spite of what happened to Cassidy and Nerissa and left Earth to join the congregation, growing to trust the Oracle and his way of handling matters, and distrusting the new guardians for their inexperience. Kadma left the guardians, seemingly before Cassidy's death, to become queen to a planet that she had no business ruling over while leaving her friends at an incredibly volatile point in time.
WE know that Cassidy and Nerissa's fates were inevitable, but THEY DON'T. And I'm sure they have extremely strong feelings towards each other and towards themselves for the roles they played before and after the fates of their friends were sealed. I'm talking avoidance, passive aggressiveness, downright screaming matches while they're trapped together in the Heart of Zamballa with everyone else and only Yan Lin being able to mediate.
Deep down they know the paths they chose were a direct betrayal to what they believed in. Now they're old, and they have to make peace with that. They have to accept that they both made their choices, they both let things get to this point, and it is not their fault that fate played out as cruelly as it did.
And if, somewhere at the end of those post-canon talks, the anger, the sadness, the acceptance and forgiveness, there is a chance to renew that friendship - that love?
Well, we saw Kadma abdicate the throne for a 'humble life on Earth'. She has accepted that she is not needed on Zamballa anymore and is trying to move forward. If Halinor wanted to join her for that, finally let go of Kandrakar and also choose to take her next step forward down on Earth, I think the two of them could make it work.
