I started reading braiding sweetgrass (it's amazing!!) and as someone who grew up in a very christian community I really wonder how a person can look at these practices and think of them as evil or wrong, it's crazy to think how detached many of us are from nature....

also if you speak german or french I really recommend this documentary by arte, very interesting and kept reminding me of the book

Connection to the Gaia Hypothesis

The Gaia Hypothesis developed by James Lovelock basically states (and was the proven) that the Earth is alive. It talks about how planet Earth is a single organism; a complex entity with a biosphere, atmosphere, oceans and soil feedback system. "A optimal, physical and chemical environment for life." And this was one of the methods scientists used to try to figure out if there was life on Mars. James Lovelock figured that if there were life on mars, the gasses on the plant would be in balance. If there wasn't any signs of life, the gases in the atmosphere that could react in any way, would react with each other in every possible way.

Our terrarium connects to the Gaia Hypothesis because our terrarium is like a single organism. If we leave our terrarium with the right 'ingredients' (e.g. healthy plants for the weather conditions, bacteria, living organisms, good soil etc..), it would be able to continue surviving without human impact.
