The Turtlies, another gang of mooks. Can’t make a side-scrolling brawler without thinking of the TMNT but they don’t have to be good guys, so I used a color scheme inspired by the original b/w comics where they all wore red, plus if I’m making knockoff Ninja Turtles I gotta shout out the legendary Turly Gang

Real quick, do these look like Jay Ward designs for gang members in Mardi Gras frog costumes wearing battle gear visually referencing “Battletoads” but using the color schemes from “Frog & Toad” for more visual unity or nah

Just wouldn’t be fair if the game didn’t have any American characters. Going for a horrifically unflattering John Wayne / Clint Eastwood vibe

Ah but looking at the outlines-vs-no-outlines, I’m amazed by how well the old “black circle representing their shadow” distinguishes the character--even if you can’t see every detail while they’re standing still, it shows “there’s a guy here”. Hmmmmm
