I always love the idea that because of Tarn’s reputation, even if you do some public display of humiliation, everyone is so scared of him they don’t partake in it.

V.A.N is just 😫😫😫
Bad Omens know what they’re doing! Like, V.A.N is taking over and infecting the world, right? (Haven’t read the comics. Bear with me.) Bad Omens and Poppy create a catchy song. An infectious song, if you will. That a lot of us will have stuck in our heads for days…weeks…maybe months.
i LOVE women but unfortunately only platonically
do you actually like nature?
or do you like using it?
do you actually like to travel?
or do you like to say you’ve traveled?
this principle can be applied to many things including women (do you like me or what I do for you? etc).
The distinction is important when determining character.
Part of me is like "ugh, stories about stories" but all stories are stories about stories because the author knows that the reader has read other stories. Every story is in conversation with the stories that came before. Every story is playing with the readers' expectations in how it fulfills those expectations or bucks them. The way we understand our own lives is through stories because that is just how our memory works.
