This is for my novel The Leech Queen!
1. First sentence of WIP
When he was younger, he was told that devils do not fly.
2. The genre
it’s a new adult fantasy novel, including romance, coming-of-age, angels and demons, and a lot of musing about morality.
3. Name and age of MC
It’s a dual pov, with Cody Pennings, age 21 and Charlotte Vane, an immortal who stopped aging at 19 but is by now about 130 years old.
4. First line of dialogue in WIP
“Cody, behind you!” he screams as he approaches the other angel, slashing at a demon’s wings.
I’m tagging @shorecatcher and @helenstroy!
5, 8, and 14 if they haven't been asked already!!
thank you!!!
5) character you were most surprised to end up writing
honestly? Cody White from The Leech Queen. Full disclosure: it’s not so weird that I would write him, it’s just weird that he would be my main pov/character. I’m usually really not into big, blond, muscular, morally black and white thinking angelic saviour types. Gimme morally grey heroes at all times. But Cody? Cody’s my main man. And that’s odd.
(Of course, he has hidden depths…. But I assume all of the characters that fall into this archetype do! I just never take the time to find them!)
8) favorite genre to write
fantasy. hands down.
14) do you make playlists for your current wips?
can I get a frick yes? for example, on the playlist for The Leech Queen you can find hearse by von grey
get to know your author asks!
WIP game - ironic. thanks!
thank you!!!
ironic:
Cody laughs. “I guess.”He brings his hands up again and clenches and unclenches them. “Competing witha mere human. She should have gone for someone her own size.”
Sefu looks away. “You areno longer human now.”
Cody chuckles sadly. “Andironically, she’s can’t fight me anymore either. I lost her the minute I caughtup with her.”
- The Leech Queen, chapter 1
send me a word, if it’s in my wip document I’ll answer your ask with the sentence that it appears in
original characters: charlotte vane, the leech queen
She had dangled between her Victorian morals and the violence of Hell before retreating into the quiet waters of the modern age. It was horrible. She couldn’t help but be either a modest debutante or a ruthless monster. It took her years to find the human in herself.
