I can't wake up today. I have an hour an a half long meeting on the impact of new tax policies on the nonprofit sector starting at 11:30 and I have no idea how I'm going to stay awake through it, let alone absorb the info.

BUT, in keeping with my resolution this year to pay better attention to local politics, and to actually make a difference at the local level, I'm going to be running for a county board commission seat in September. I have the mayor's support and the savvy of the Progressive Women's Alliance to help navigate the whole thing, true, but I still need to have as many glad-handed face to face conversations with local movers and shakers as I can.

Who, you guessed it, will be at the tax policy discussion.
