The absolute best moments of the Ls aren't uploaded that I can find, so I am doing it myself.

Here is possibly their most quintessential moment in the entire series, 1x4 demonstrating their signature chatter and also the very first establishment of their friendship with Ben The Magnificent.

I met the Specters again at the gathering in Costa Del Sol for more storytelling. There I also got to make the acquaintance of a man who had wandered far enough from his tribe that he was ready to find a new home. He told the first tale and accompanied his words with a guitar. Even now the tune lingers in my mind. A tale of how song began. 

I followed his story with the one translated (and a little embellished) from one of the three tablets X’shah gave me leave to translate.

After myself was a huntress and her chilling story of fratricide and the jackal’s totem and then Rhuaza-- no, X’shuyet I think she calls herself now. Shu told of the holy Rhino and why sometimes rhinos may have a second horn. One fine day I hope to see such a creature for myself. But ah... not to take me to the Hells. Though it does make me worry a little.

J’tehn finished the proceedings with his own true-to-life brush with a lifestealing voidsent and for the entire thing I clutched my notepad like a liferaft. Gods willing I may never have to see another of their ilk again! (The voidsent, not the Specters. Though I’m sure my father might not want me to see either.)

The LS

Some people who have followed me for a while knows I suffer periods of paranoia, especially after exposing myself to horror movies or comics. I can’t always control my brain and convince myself all that stuff hiding in the dark isn’t real.

Other times my brain just goes to create its own monster without a source and does its darnest to convince me this thing is real and right behind me. Or even in front of me to a point I really believe I’m seeing it. It sucks.

When this thing began to appear, a friend convinced me to try and draw it. To give it a source and make it more mundane and clearly not real, so I could get it out of my head. And what ya know, it worked like a charm. Haven’t seen the LS in months since then (LS stands for Little Shit, it was what name I could think of) and felt it was safe to share these sketches.

Finally got a tool against those things in my head.

Ben the Magnificent, by the numbers

(This is really just me making a handy rewatch guide) 1x04 4 (Ben, Lila, Kristen, Kristen) 1x08 1 (Lila) 1x09 1 (Andy) 1x12 1 (Lila, Lila is the one who hugs him and drags him over by the hand) 1x13 1 (Laura) 2x04 1 (Laura) 3x03 2 (Lila, twice) (Laura is the one who talks to Ben in 3x10) 4x02 1 (Laura) 4x11 2 (Lila, Ellie pretending to be Laura) 4x14 1 (All four Ls) 14 total utterances of "Ben the Magnificent", plus Lila's "you're not very magnificent lately" makes 15. 8 of them (over half) are from season 1. Lila racks up 6 of them (a little less than half), and Laura 3 (around 20%). So, it turns out that Ben's relationship with the girls isn't fully equal. Lila and Laura have a particular affinity for him. I wonder if there's a connection to my impression that Lila and Laura are the ones who tend to drive the nonstop chatter during the overlapping talking moments, whereas Lynn and Lexis tend to have more beats and non-spoken reactions (i.e. facial expressions) in their contributions to the flow. Of course, there's an element of actor improv tendency to those cases. But, it does bear out in the scripted lines that Laura is always pretty mouthy and forward with her opinions while Lila is the smooth talking liar. They are the two who coordinate on the "we put a kid from school in the toilet" joke in 3x03. Lexis and Lynn are more measured in what they say, more often asking questions or making observations than stating opinions. Interesting that it is then Lexis and Lynn who have the more spiritually-related arcs in the show. This split is then reinforced by the plausibility of Ellie-pretending-to-be-Laura spinning the future of Ben having encouraged Laura to go into cosmology.
