Rescuing WildStar with The MADE
I reached out to the fantastic video game museum earlier today and received a wonderfully prompt reply. Here was my letter:
And this was Alex Handy’s response:
As far as responses go, I think this is about as positive as I could have possibly hoped for. We now know a few things!
1. The museum will reach out to NCSoft regarding NCSoft transferring the server code to them.
2. As per Mr. Handy’s advice, it may be best for us to double-down on our efforts for this after November 28th, though I can’t imagine it hurts to also try to contact them now, to let our intentions be known.
3. It would be super extra helpful if we could find someone who can write in Korean to help us draft a letter to NCSoft headquarters!
There is currently a thread on the official WildStar forums regarding the Massively OP article and The MADE’s willingness to host server code of defunct games. I’ve posted my update there. I encourage everyone else who sees this tumblr post to please also contribute their thoughts in that thread! I know my reach is not far, so I’d really appreciate reblogs if anyone could spare them! Maybe someone will see this who can help with the above points. :)
And if anyone has any thanks, thoughts, etc they would like to convey to Mr. Handy, just let me know and I’ll pass them along in the e-mail chain we’ve started!
