Do you know if the owners of the Heartland ranch property use the barn, join-up ring, or jumping paddock for their own uses during the off season when the production company is closed down?

I don’t actually know, but I think the real owners do use them to some extent. Back when the production came out to the ranch, I’m pretty sure most of it was already there but then the set designer team built the ranch house shell that is the only thing that’s actually not “useable” in the sense the other things are for a typical ranch. I also do believe the set team “spruced up the place a little” otherwise too to make it seem like they visioned and to serve their purpose better.
After Ty’s loft was turned into Ty and Amy’s loft, I know they have been keeping the space open or stored hay there (not sure if it’s only for the production and the horses they bring in, or for all the horses) because the only set they use for the loft anymore is in the studio (usually most of the sets they use a lot have doubles in the studio as well as on the location). So the barn is probably used to some extent. I also do believe the barn didn’t look like it does in the show (from inside) before they decided to start filming there, but now that it does, I would guess the owners might have some horses there in the stalls when the production’s not around and the corrals and pastures are actually used by “their horses” too, but, again, I don’t have anything to back up this claim, just little things here and there that make me think this.
I don’t think they use the barn office, though, and it’s simply there for the show.
It’s my belief that there is a team who does come in and mow the lawn and clean up the jumping ring, etc. when the place is needed for filming, but otherwise the real owners probably look after the place since it’s their property.
I do think, because they built that red storage “on the ranch” (the one that’s never seen on the show, that they’ve filmed around since like 2014) that because the owners built it there, that it’s located on the spot they need it the most - which would be the ranch - so maybe that would indicate the ranch is used when the production is not there too.
And if someone’s confused what red storage I’m talking about, it’s the one between the ranch house and the quonset hut (Amber’s said the owners keep their equipments, etc. there):
I also do believe the real owners live in the house seen behind the barn, so the fact that it’s so close-by would make me assume everything “on the set” would be readily available for them when needed and that’s why it’s probably used to some extent:
This whole thing is interesting to me, though, and it’s something I’ve been wondering, because the location is perfect for the fictional Bartlett-Fleming family as they have a cattle rancher, a horse whisperer and a (future?) Olympian jumper living there, so they really have it all for that sort of thing, but I do wonder what the ranch is actually used for. I know the place used to be a working ranch, but is it still and to what extent. But at the same time I also do believe the real owners deserve their privacy, so maybe that will always remain a mystery.
