Dear people who are going apeshit over the Ghostbusters reboot:

I agree with you. But, you're all also stupid.

Yes, the reboot is a terrible idea. No, not because it's women playing the lead roles (though no one, and I mean NO ONE will ever be able to successfully pull off the characters quite like the originals).

It's a terrible idea because it's a reboot; i.e. a movie done by Hollywood writers that are too fucking lazy to come up with their own idea, and so they rehash the same plots and the same jokes. As of right now, that's just speculation but, c'mon, we've got precedence here.

I'm just gonna throw my two cents into this whole American Sniper thing:

The only movies one really needs to watch about the "war" in the Middle East are Restrepo and its follow-up Korengal.

The two most brutally-honest war documentaries I've ever seen. They really capture the disillusionment experienced by countless veterans deployed over into the Middle East.

One of the things that the films make resoundingly clear; it stops being about fighting for one's country and being a hero almost immediately. The only important thing to a lot of these soldiers is that they do their damned get their brothers -- and themselves -- out alive.

There's none of this chauvinist, propaganda-porn bullshit.
