why is velnar's hair grey is he an old man
It just runs in the family, tbh.
It probably has something to do with the location of his hometown and the exposure to environment and weather conditions, considering Yuni’s hair color also happens to be a pretty light color as well.
Though you never know, he might age differently compared to normal people considering we don’t really know his age. I don’t think he or Yuni would be too keen on revealing it either.
does velnar have a specific location that puts him at ease? does he have one that brings back bad memories?
He usually ends up teleporting to sleep atop one of the tall buildings within the Academy.
No one has ever found this location aside from Yuni since she knows him so well, and Yuni doesn’t feel inclined to tell people where his special hiding place is when 1) If they want Velnar, they can poof a magic letter to his location via searching where his magic is the most prominent, or Yuni’s for that matter, and 2) If Yuni goes to get him, then he’s more inclined to listen and go with her.
Some place high up is the ideal for him to relax.
Any bad memories he has, he doesn’t really remember them or find them something worth lingering over. Velnar isn’t the type to care about the past or allow it to drag him down. Who he is is just a person he forged completely on his own-- That’s how he thinks anyway.
( He wouldn’t be too keen on going back home though considering they sent him away and never called back for him or anything though, to be honest. )

do velnar's markings hurt or ache?
Not anymore.
After the events of becoming a Sealer, they would burn and ache whenever he used his powers because he wasn’t used to the magic and how the mana burned hot enough to materialize fire. The mana comes from the core of his body and heats on its way towards his arms, therefore his arms would usually burn the most-- Of course he can breathe fire as well considering the Seal on his tongue, but he didn’t dare to do this until he was more experienced with his magic.
He can also kick fire from his feet if he wants, but that means burning his shoes and he doesn’t like going through pairs as quickly as he used to when he did it as a delinquent Sage Tower student.
He’s more experienced with his magic now and controlling it, so it doesn’t hurt him anymore thank god.
