The Sectars
Created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears in conjunction with Coleco Toys, The Sectars herald from the planet Symbion, the site of a catastrophic failed genetic experiment. Frightening changes took place ultimately resulting in a world where insects and arachnids grow to frightening proportions and the inhabitants have taken on their characteristics.
The valiant Prince Dargon (voiced by Dan Gilvezan), rules the peaceful Shining Realm of Prosperon, and his allies are in conflict with the forces of Empress Devora, ruler of the Dark Domain of Synax, and her cruel lieutenant, General Spidrax. The two factions rival each other for possession of the Hyves, fortresses of an ancient civilization holding the key to ultimate power.
A five episode miniseries of The Sectars was released in September of 1985 alongside a wave of action figures and play-sets. Marvel Comics additionally released a miniseries adaptation of the story.
