DCL LOCOMOTIVE John Peel 20th April 1986
Shend.
Nothin' like stumbling on late-night stealth repeats of Torchwood just in time for "They Keep Killing Suzie," where John Barrowman gets to taser a guy I met once...who also played a biker in Different for Girls. As they say on Twitter - this isn't a #humblebrag. It's pretty much a straight-up brag.
The Very Things - "This is Motortown"
This is a great example of non-Lip Service model types making great goth-punk music.
The Shend, the singer here, is overweight, and balding. And god fucking bless him.
What do you want to bet if he had this same voice, and band, but looked like, OH LETS SAY IAN CURTIS, this band would be WAYYY more well known. It's stupid.
Deathrock/postpunk is about the music, and is anti-image, acepting of the freaks and misfits. Supposedly. It is not a field for the reproduction of Madison Avenue "hot" model ideas, but with different hip musical accoutrements. A good vocalist is a good vocalist. Whether s/he is "attractive," or not. The Very Things are as amazing as Joy Division and Christian Death and Sisters of Mercy. Too bad the singer is fat and bald.
The third strike video resource. Most of the available tutorials and tons of highlevel japanese footage.
