☕️ + what makes hockey rpf compelling as a fandom?
(i ask as someone who’s been rpf-adjacent for 20 years in fandom and have only now tripped and fallen in head first)

i was about to say "i dont know if im that compelled" but i can only make the same mistake a few dozen times before buying a clue. so i will not say that. but as someone who has also been in a variety of rpf but pretty dismissive of hrpf until what, two hours ago, i think
non con prolonged exposure to the sport through hr which i was interested in for non-hockey reasons put me in the position of obtaining like 5MB of random knowledge. and that is the perfect amount to itch at your brain like its not so big that you get overwhelmed or saturated but not so little that you can ignore it. it feels very bite sized and manageable. so then you go from oh this is what the boards are called (boards) to how far can a comparatively mid player get if he's really good at starting and finishing fights. how heavy is the mantle of an enforcer if they historically have been credited with so many comebacks. what does this mean for their confidence and self worth in the locker r
i am one of those people who is not interested in hrpf unless its about hockey which might seem surprising but is in fact completely in line with my sucking canon's dick at every opportunity
i am also highly ship motivated so random individuals dont interest me much but you know whats funny is that im not normally a best friend shipper bc i find it doesnt have enough conflict for me. but you see hockey provides
