Superjail's transphobia is so fucking aggravating. I like the show, yes, but I also can't deny that Alice is a caricature of trans women, despite the fact that as the show goes on, she does get treated more and more as an actual person and has a surprisingly earnest backstory of her coming out in the last episode of season one (and this isn't me being delusional or reading between the lines; she gets to have a genuine coming-out scene with no jokes made at her expense).

And it's even more annoying because the humor of this show isn't based on the same old shock humor (the shock humor that is just saying offensive shit as a punchline, that is), so when they use Alice for a transphobic joke, it's just... crickets. Oh wow, she has a dick, oh wow she's manly, isn't it funny that the Warden has a CRUSH on "HER"?!?!
